What is sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is a solution for veins and red spots caused by vascular issues. Sclerotherapy works well for spider veins, but may also work for some smaller varicose veins.
During sclerotherapy, your provider has you relax while the area with the veins is exposed. They inject a sclerosing agent into each target vein, which agitates your vein walls. Over time, that agitation causes vein collapse.
When the veins collapse, the blood within shifts to other parts of your body. Your body slowly reabsorbs the vein tissue once the blood's all gone, leaving your skin smooth and vein-free.
Is sclerotherapy right for me?

It depends on your specific case. Some patients need only one treatment to get optimal results, while others need several sclerotherapy treatments. If you need multiple treatments, you'll typically wait around six weeks between each treatment to ensure that you see full results before proceeding.
How long is recovery time?
There's no downtime at all. You'll wear a compression garment in the treatment area for a few weeks, but you'll be able to go about your normal routine. Walking helps you avoid blood clots, but your provider may restrict heavy exercise for a couple of weeks post-sclerotherapy.
